Shaker Board of Education Approves New Superintendent Contract

The Shaker Heights Board of Education unanimously approved the contract for the next superintendent at Tuesday's meeting.

Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr., will begin work as superintendent-elect at the district July 1, a month before his employment as superintendent begins. During that month, he will work closely with Superintendent Mark Freeman, who retires July 31.

Hutchings will receive a $150,000 annual base pay with an opportunity for up to $25,000 annually in performance bonuses.

Hutchings currently serves as Director of Prekindergarten through 12th Grade Initiatives for the Alexandria City Public Schools in Virginia, which akin to being an assistant superintendent.
