Pistol-Whipping Discharges Gun in Shaker Apartment Building

Shaker Heights Police responded to an apartment after a resident said that a man hit him with a gun and accidentally discharged a bullet.

The Shaker Heights Police Department supplied the following information. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Shaker Heights man was taken to the hospital after police say a robber pistol-whipped him in his apartment, demanding money, and accidentally discharged his gun.

The man said that another man that he knows came to his apartment on the 3700 block of Warrensville Center Road and demanded money. The resident refused, and the suspect hit him in the face with a handgun.

The gun went off, though the bullet did not hit anyone. The resident was transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Police noted that the apartment building is cinder block, and the bullet did not travel through the walls to any other units.
