Shaker Heights Man Stands Off With Police
The man may face felony charges for a three-hour standoff with Shaker Heights Police.
The Shaker Heights Police Department supplied the following information. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
A Shaker Heights man is in jail after police say he barricaded himself in his home for nearly three hours last week.
Police went to an address on Newell Road at about 8 a.m. Sep. 13 to talk to the man about allegations he had assaulted his pregnant girlfriend, sending her to the hospital.
The man, whose name has not been released by Shaker Heights Police, locked himself inside the home and refused officers’ orders to come out, they said.
He also kept his girlfriend in the home against her will, police said.
When the man came outside at around 11 a.m., police arrested him on a probation violation through Cuyahoga County. He is still in jail, they added.
Felony charges from the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office are pending.
