Shaker Heights Patch is celebrating the 100 years of Shaker Heights history by creating an online scrapbook. Each day for 100 days, we'll feature a photograph that helps tell the story of Shaker Heights.

Today's image is the architect's drawing of the Warner Theater. Its location was the intersection of Kinsman, South Moreland  and Warrensville roads. The building was constructed in the late 1940s, well before Kinsman became Chagrin Boulevard and South Moreland became Van Aken Boulevard. If you visit the shopping center, you can see the outside outline of the theater near the Panera.

Thanks to Meghan Hays, Local History Librarian at Shaker Heights Public Library, for her help.

You can join our celebration of Shaker Heights history. Share your memories in the comments. Or upload your photos and we'll feature them in this scrapbook. Follow #ShakerCentennial on Twitter

Not sure when it changed its name but it was the Vogue Theater in the 60s, 70s and 80s until it closed.

Julie, thanks for letting us know. This drawing
was dated @1949, so maybe it was renamed when it finally opened.

Check out the sun fact in Thursday's Sun Press. It is about The Vogue theater. Opened in May 1947 and was operated initially by Warner Bros . Closed in 1986.

The company that operated the theater was RKO STANLEY WARNER THEATRES

The theater opened with the film STALLION ROAD starring Alexis Smith and Zachary Scott. There were 1,402 sets on one floor and the company boasted the largest indoor screen in Ohio.

Julie and Tim, thanks so much for this conversation. I'm learning so much about Shaker and I'm happy to see how everyone is pitching in with comments and information.
