Car Thief Escapes From Shaker Heights Police

A Shaker Heights police officer located a man driving a stolen car, but the man was able to flee on foot.

A Shaker Heights police officer pulled over a man suspected of stealing a car from Cleveland, but the thief was able to escape on foot, according to police.

At about 2:42 a.m. on July 29, a police officer was driving north on Lee Road and noticed a car driving south. He ran the license plate and learned that the car, a Toyota Camry, had been reported stolen out of Cleveland.

The officer pulled behind the car with its lights on, and the suspect pulled into a residential driveway on Lee Road. The man jumped out of the car and ran off on foot.

Police officers searched for the man but was unable to locate him.

A woman in the car weith the man claims she did not know the driver and that she only knew his nickname.
