Shaker Heights Arts and Music Festival Artist: Paula Benfer
Shaker Heights Patch profiles the artists and crafters at this year's festival
Paula Benfer believes making art and teaching art are equally important. Throughout her career as a teacher in Troy, Ohio, she's produced eclectic pieces that tell stories.
"What is important to me is the narrative quality in my work," she wrote in her artist's statement. "Through my art I narrate the stories of growing up on a farm in Eastern Iowa. My images tell stories about my ancestors or places which are important to me."
The Shaker Heights Arts and Music Festival takes place this Saturday and Sunday on Farnsleigh Road between Warrensville Center Road and Van Aken Boulevard.
