Come Back to Shaker Weekend: Complete Event Listing

Find out when and where events are during this weekend's centennial celebration

The city's biggest event in 2012 has arrived — Centennial Come Back to Shaker weekend.

The weekend features a full slate of activities, parties and fairs. The events will provide a chance to tour facilities, dine, dance and cheer on Shaker Heights athletes.

Here's a rundown of events:

Friday

6:30 p.m. — High School women's field hockey game vs. Bexley High School

7 to 10 p.m. — Community Youth "Canteen" Dance Friday at . Students, grades 9 to 12, are encouraged to come dressed in the style of their favorite decade. The dance will feature a DJ and refreshments. Attendees must present a student ID at the door along with a ticket and payment. Click here to register for tickets.

Saturday

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Home-Based Business Fair, . Twenty-five Shaker Heights business owners will showcase their services.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Shaker Heights Birthday Party for children at Horseshoe Lake. The event will include free treats, musical entertainment and an appearance from "Flower Clown."

Regional Reunion for Shaker Graduates from All Classes

  • 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Cookout on the front lawn. Reservations are required for this event.
  • 12:30 to 1 p.m. — Self-guided tours of the high school, showcasing recent improvements.
  • 12:40 p.m. — Ribbon-cutting of the newly renovated High School track and multipurpose field. Members of the Shaker athletic teams and band will do the honors.

1 p.m. — Varsity Football game - Shaker Heights vs. Cleveland JFK. Shaker looks to bounce back after to Solon. Pre-sale tickets cost $6 for adults and $4 for students. All tickets will cost $6 at the gate on Saturday.

5:30 p.m. — High School women’s soccer game — Shaker Heights vs. Chardon

7 p.m. to midnight — "Shaker, Not Stirred!" The event includes dinner, drinks, dessert and live music. Sales have closed for this event.

Sunday

1 p.m. — "The past, present and future of an American Utopia," a discussion with Steven Litt, Art and Architecture Critic of The Plain Dealer. The event takes place at the . Click here to register for this free event.

1 to 5 p.m. — "Home Tour: Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Future: Architectural Aesthetics over the Century." The tour will be throughout Shaker Heights. It costs $15 in advance and $20 day of the tour, if available. Click here to buy tickets. If you buy tickets, the will be available upon arrival.

1 p.m. — Lemonade Day — The city's youngest entrepreneurs will sell lemonade through the city in every neighborhood.

2 p.m. — Shaker Heights Bicycle Tour, beginning at the . Click here to purchase a ticket.

7:30 p.m. — Movie at Chelton Park. The event is free. People are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs. Minors must be accompanied by adults.
