Good ol' Boys Network: Dead or Alive?

Are you affected by the Good Ol' Boys Network? Is it still relevant today?

In today's marketplace, is the Good ol' boys network still operating or is it on life-support? Answer: It depends. The farther up the ladder you climb, it seems to operate quietly but it really depends on the organization. As we see the Cuyahoga County machine somewhat dismantle with Jimmy Dimora being removed and a new form of government voted in by the community, we wait and see. So far, so good!

In local government, each community defines what it will tolerate. The bottom line is as always: You GET what you vote for. If you're not registered to vote, shame on you. If you are registered and don't vote, ditto. If you vote, you count!! Even if your candidate doesn't win, your voice was heard.

In Corporate America, different story. Lots of good ol' boy networks are surviving but... baby-boomers are aging. We can't live forever! So, there are lots of opportunity out there for everybody. The American Dream is alive and well!

Small businesses, take heart. Don't be discouraged there really is room for everybody to be in business and chase your dreams. Nothing will be instant and there will be hard work and learning curves but you can do it.

The Good Ol' Boy network is alive but not at all well. The times, they are a' changin'!
