Shaker Heights High Students to Perform 'As You Like It'

The school will pay homage to Shakespeare and to the city's centennial celebration.

Shaker Heights High School students will perform Shakespeare's famous and classic comedy, As You Like It, Dec. 5 through Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. in the large auditorium.

And though the play was written long before the 1900s, the costumes will pay homage to the city's centennial celebration — actors will don Edwardian period costumes circa 1912.

“This will be a unique way for the community to visualize what we looked like 100 years ago,” said Christine McBurney, director and theatre arts department chair, in an article on the school's website.

The production will feature more than 90 performers, musicians, directors, and technicians.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and senior adults, and can be purchased online at http://www.tix.com/. Online ticket sales close at 1 p.m. on performance dates. Walk-ins may buy tickets at the box office starting at 6:30 on performance nights. For group rates, call the box office at 216-295-4287. Patrons at the Associate level must call the box office to reserve complimentary tickets.
