Calendar Changes for Shaker Schools in 2012-2013
Here a few of the modifications made to the district's calendar for the upcoming school year
As Shaker Heights Schools prepare to open for the 2012-2012 year, here are a few calendar changes to keep in mind:
- Schools in the district open for class on Monday Aug. 27. They opened four days earlier last year. The later date allows for two professional days on Aug. 23 and 24. It also means students will have a full week of school before Labor Day weekend.
- Fall conferences have been moved November to October this year. According to the district's website, the schools wanted to give parents feedback about student performance earlier and cause less distraction during November and Thanksgiving break.
- Schools will be closed to students and teachers on Nov. 6, Election Day.
- Spring break has been extended by two days this year. Schools close after a full day on March 27, 2013 and reopen on April 8.
