7 Shaker Students, Residents Win National Merit Scholarship

Students from Shaker Heights won $2,500 in scholarships.

Seven students from Shaker Heights have been announced as National Merit Scholarship winners.

Here are the names of students who are either from Shaker Heights or attend school in the community:

  • Gurbani Kaur (Hathaway Brown), of Copley, plans to study surgical medicine.
  • Ivy L. Green (Laurel School), of Hiram, plans to study political science.
  • Grace Yi (Hathaway Brown), of Hudson, plans to study medicine.
  • Russell M. Cohen (Hawken School), of Shaker Heights, plans to study film production.
  • Sydney T. Costantini (Hawken School), of Shaker Heights, is undecided.
  • Rachel M. Onders (Laurel School), of Shaker Heights, plans to study surgical medicine.
  • Tatini Mal-Sarkar (Hathaway Brown), of Solon, plans to study medicine.

National Merit $2500 Scholarship winners are the finalists in each state judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
