Shaker School Board Member Norman Bliss Considering City Council Run

Shaker School Board Member Norman Bliss may run for Shaker Heights City Council, joining a race for three seats.

Shaker Heights School Board Member Norman Bliss is not running for re-election, but may have his eyes on City Hall.

Bliss has pulled petitions to run for city council in November, according to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. Bliss has served on the school board for two terms and said before he was elected that he would only serve for that long.

The race for three Shaker council seats looks like it will like it will be crowded. While only one candidate, challenger Tres Roeder, has filed, six others have pulled petitions.

All three incumbents -- Brian Gleisser, Lynn Ruffner and Rob Zimmerman -- have pulled petitions to run for re-election. Other challengers who pulled petitions are Anne E. Williams and Mark Zetzer.

Candidates have until 4 p.m. on Aug. 7 to formally file with the county board of elections.
