Shaker Looking For New Recreation Director

Pamela Quinn retired at the end of 2012

Shaker Heights is in the midst of a search for its newly named Recreation Department.

Pamela Quinn retired from her role as Community Life director days before New Year's.

Shaker Heights Chief Administrative Officer Jeri Chaikin said the city has been talking to prospects, but did not indicate that it is on the verge of naming Quinn's replacement.

Until then, Chaikin is handling the recreation director's duties. She said the city has also advertised the job.

Quinn's departure was announced at the Dec. 17 council meeting. Officials had the chance that night to express appreciation for her 17 years of service.

"I want to thank you for all of your diligence, hard work, thoughtfulness," Mayor Earl Leiken told Quinn at the meeting. "Your concern about funding, all of the issues and little things that residents have brought to you, I have brought to you, Jeri has brought to you, council members have brought to you that you've constantly responded to quickly and in a positive demeanor.

"Everything you've done, including your upbeat attitude is much appreciated."
