Shaker Heights City Council Renews Water Service Agreement With Cleveland

Council approves measure unanimously

The city of Shaker Heights has approved two new agreements with Cleveland for water service.

Shaker Heights first entered into an agreement for Cleveland to take over the city's water distribution lines in 1981. Since then, Cleveland has maintained and provided water through the lines to Shaker Heights.

The new agreement stipulates that Cleveland spend at least $10 million per year on suburban waterline work, and its term is 20 years, instead of the 10-year-term agreed to in the last contract.
