Five Candidates File For Three City Council Seats; Three File For School Board

Candidates filed to run for local office in Shaker Heights.

Five candidates will vie for three seats on the Shaker Heights City Council this November.

Only three candidates filed to run for three Shaker Heights Board of Education seats.

Tuesday afternoon was the filing deadline for candidates to run for local office in Shaker Heights. The election is scheduled for Nov. 5.

In the city council race, two incumbents filed for re-election: Lynn Ruffner and Rob Zimmerman. Long-time council member Brian Gleisser did not file for re-election, according to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.

The challengers are Tres RoederAnne E. Williams and Mark Zetzer.

Norman Bliss, a school board member who had pulled petitions to run for city council, did not file, according to the board of elections information.

Two incumbents on the school board filed to run for re-election: Amy H. Fulford and Annette Tucker Sutherland. The final candidate who filed was Alex Liston Dykema.
