Board of Elections Looking to Hire 6,000 Poll Workers

Poll workers receive about $172 for their service

The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections is now accepting applications for poll workers for the Nov. 6 election.

According to a press release from the board, they are looking for hire 6,000 individuals for the Nov. 6 election. Poll workers receive $172.10, and they are expected to complete a training session, attend a meeting the night before the election and work at the polls from about 5:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. during the election.

To be eligible, individuals must be at least 17 years old and be registered to vote in the county. According to the board's website, convicted felons cannot be poll workers. And candidates cannot work at the polls where they are running for election.

Each precinct in Ohio needs two Democratic poll workers and two Republicans to maintain political balance. Republican and bilingual poll workers are always in demand, the release notes.

Applications can be filled out on the board’s website or by calling (216) 443-3277.

I thought Democrats where bilingual, since they can talk out of both sides of their mouths.
