UPDATE: Electricity Restored for Shaker Heights Customers

Power had been out for customers since 11:30 a.m.

The power outages in Shaker Heights and most of the Cleveland area have been restored, a FirstEnergy Corp. spokesman said.

About 8,500 customers had been without power since 11:30 a.m., including 1,295 in Shaker Heights. By 1 p.m., the count was down to just one customer in Shaker.

Spokesman Chad Self said he was still waiting to hear from crews regarding what caused the outage.

"We still have crews in the field, but we have cleared up most of the outages," he said.

Shaker Police Sgt. Troy Allison said the department began getting outage calls late this morning, mostly near the intersection of Warrensville Center Road, Farnsleigh Road, Northfield Road and Chagrin and Van Aken boulevards.

Allison said residents of the Oliver House complex on Warrensville Center were among the many power customers who reported outages.
