Shaker Heights Man Killed in Crash

25-year-old Brian Horwich died in crash at Warrensville Center and Fairmount early this morning.

One person was killed in a car crash early this morning on Fairmount Boulevard in Shaker Heights — though less than 12 hours from the time of the crash many details remain unclear about what happened.

Police would not release the name of the deceased, but many news outlets have identified him as Brian Horwich, 25, of Shaker Heights.

The crash happened at about 1:39 a.m. just west of Warrensville Center Road. Police said it appears that the car hit a pole. One person died at the scene.

Police said that there were other people in the car, but they do not know how many. They are unaware of any other injuries.

Horwich graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 2005.

“I remember Brian as a young man with a tremendously vibrant personality and ability to make people laugh. He was loved by his peers," said Michael D. Griffith, principal of Shaker Heights High School. "I feel terrible for his family.”

His brother Ian also attended Shaker and graduated in 2003.
