Shaker Heights Firefighter OK After Fatal Fire

Fire Chief Kevin Jacobs responds to Tuesday's Daleford Road fire

Shaker Heights Fire Chief Kevin Jacobs called this morning's fire on Daleford Road "extremely tragic."

Two people died in the blaze at 3333 Daleford Road and seven others - two firefighters and five civilians - were taken to Ahuja Medical Center.

"It's tragic for the family, for the Shaker Heights community and certainly for the first responders," said Jacobs.

The two injured firefighters were with Shaker Heights and Beachwood's fire departments.

The Shaker Heights firefighter was treated and released, said Jacobs.

He was not aware of the condition of the Beachwood firefighter.

This fire is under investigation, said Jacobs, and he is awaiting the results of the coroner's report before releasing the names of those who died.

Firefighters from departments including Cleveland Heights, Beachwood, University Heights, Euclid, East Cleveland, Richmond Heights and Lyndhurst responded to help fight this blaze.
