Police Shoot Turtle & Man Streaks: Best of the Blotter

Here are some of the weirdest police reports from departments across the region

Here are this week's most bizarre police calls, reports and charges. All information was provided by police reports from departments in Patch communities. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Chair thrower: A bad day turned worse for a former employee at a Twinsburg company on Summit Commerce Park.

The woman's employer fired her on Aug. 22, and she responded by . The woman shouted obscenities at multiple employees before hurling a chair at one of them.

The victim was struck in the leg and decided to press assault charges on the former employee. The company has asked police to ban the woman from the premises and make sure she stays away.

Turtle down: A turtle in Avon must have posed quite a threat.

Police Chief Richard Bosley confirmed this week that an officer shot the turtle three times — after it had been .

A resident called at 7:50 a.m. on Aug. 28 to report a large, injured turtle sitting on a tree lawn at the intersection of Case and Detroit roads.

The turtle was about 16 inches in diameter. Bosley did not state why the animal was shot. The remains were soon cleared by the city's service department.

Who is this woman?: A Cleveland Heights resident woke up face-to-face to a strange woman on Aug. 18.

The Hillcrest Road woman woke up at 4 a.m. to the . As soon as they saw one another, the stranger fled. According to a police report, it appeared that the 5-foot-4-inch intruder had propped up a chair under the bathroom window and crawled into the home.

She did not steal anything.

Must have energy: Everybody needs a boost at times, but a man in Bath Township took things to another level.

According to a police report, he walked into a Shell True North gas station and of Red Bull into his pants. He ran out of the store and jumped into a stolen Oldsmobile from Akron. Police were unable to locate the man or car.

Summer of the streak: No summer week in Northeast Ohio is complete without at least one person exposing themselves in public, it seems.

This time, a man in Lakewood with no clothes. The streaking took place at 4:40 a.m., according to police. Officers found a set of clothes nearby in the 18000 block.

Glad to know there's a police officer out there who responds appropriately to the threat of an injured turtle. I certainly feel safer.

I'm a big law enforcement supporter, but even this, makes me think twice about calling police if I'm injured and need help. ;/

He did the right thing...at least no innocent bystanders were wounded. They shoot wounded deer all the time. Someone has to do it.

haha "he did the right thing" what threat is a TURTLE? It should have been taken to Penn Glen or the Metroparks to be rehabbed or euthanized.

Elliot Ness is a moron.
Michael Lawrence September 3, 2012 at 07:53 pm
no, elliot is right, they put the injured turtle out of its misery, it was injured by a car.
rachel talty September 3, 2012 at 08:06 pm
shooting a helpless creature multiple times is not a humane way to put it out of its misery.
I.M. Wright September 4, 2012 at 10:15 am
Wow. You certainly made a valid argument supported by facts and evidence.
Oh, kids. Nothing better to do on a day off. Oh....you're an actual grown adult. You fooled me with such a grown-up response. You haven't a clue what you're talking about. It's not the police's job to take an animal ANYWHERE. Educate yourself before calling people morons. Because you need to take a look in the mirror first.

I actually agree with I.M. Wright on this one. Eliiot didn't say the turtle was a threat. Not sure how much pain turtles can feel, but if any, the police officer put the turtle out of its misery.

What is the humane way?

Every season I wonder what Louis Vuitton Handbags will create. I know I won’t like everything, but I can count on Louis Vuitton to make a few bags that are absolutely lust-worthy, it’s just what they do. When we shared a closer look at their Spring 2012 collection, I remember not being entirely impressed. Of course there was a theme – lightness and femininity paired with a whimsical touch – but as many have said, the bags look like they are made out of plastic (which they aren’t, just look at the price tags).
But nestled into this collection is a perfect summer piece, the Louis Vuitton Speedy North South bag. Nautical blue and cream calfskin leather offset one another in a take on the Louis Vuitton Online Outlet house classic.

I feel better knowing there is one less angry man eating turtle roaming the steets.
