Man Escapes Gun Toter & More UH Thefts: Shaker Heights Police Blotter

Close Call: A Shaker Heights man told police that his life was threatened early on July 11 after two men stopped him.

The caller was walking down Menlo Road around 2:30 a.m. when a car slowed down and approached him. Two men exited the car and one pointed a gun, demanding the man's belongings.

The man told police he ran away and managed to escape the perpetrators. Police Lt. Jeff DeMuth said the incident is "under investigation as we speak."

Causing problems: Police received a call around 12:30 p.m. on July 11 that an employee at was intoxicated and causing trouble at the business. It got so bad that other workers tried to get him to leave. DeMuth said the man left prior to officers' arrival.

More UH thefts: Police continue receiving reports of stolen credit cards and wallets from workers at the University Hospitals Management Services Center on Warrensville Center Road.

DeMuth detailed two reports on July 10 in which workers said their credit cards were taken from their wallets at some point between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Four employees about similar incidents. One woman said her wallet was inside a desk drawer for the majority of the day.
DeMuth said the incidents remain under investigation.

Stolen iPad: A South Woodland Road resident called police and reported a stolen iPad from his vehicle between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. on July 8. The car was parked in the driveway. There are no suspects in the incident.
