Hurricane Sandy: Outages Could Last Days
Over 1,000 Shaker residents without power could stay that way throughout the week.
Over 1,000 Shaker Heights residents who are without power may have to wait for the end of the week for repairs.
Mark Durbin, spokesperson for FirstEnergy, said that most customers should have power again by the end of the week, though some areas — especially those close to the lake and west of Interstate 77 — will take into the weekend to repair.

He added that the company has adequate resources to handle the outages, though the company is seeking more, with crews from as far as Idaho and Montana coming in to help.
If you have an outage, Durbin said that it's very important to report it. Customers should call 888-544-4877 — even if you think someone else will call — to help the company accurately track and respond to outages in the area.
