Shovel-toting man arrested on warrant

Jan. 23, 4:44 p.m. — A man was arrested on a traffic warrant after police spotted him and someone else carrying shovels down Warrington Road, carrying shovels. The two matched the description of suspects in area burglaries, so police stopped them. They did not find evidence of burglaries but one man had an arrest warrant from Shaker Heights traffic court and was arrested.

Robbery at gunpoint yields only homework

Jan. 23, 6:20 p.m. — A boy reported that someone pulled a gun on him at Pennington and Hampstead Roads and demanded his backpack. The suspect got away with the bag, which contained one binder with schoolwork.

Unlocked garage burglarized

Jan. 26, 3:47 p.m. — A resident of the 3100 block of Chadbourne Road reported that someone walked into their unlocked garage and stole a bicycle and an iPod.

Unwanted ex-boyfriend arrested on warrant

Jan. 27, 9:18 p.m. — Police were called to a home on the 15700 block of Van Aken Boulevard because a woman said her ex-boyfriend had come over and would not leave. He was still there when police arrived, and they arrested him on an open arrest warrant for drunken driving in Willoughby Heights.
