Community Corner
Michelangelo Lovelace - Art Opening
Opening Reception
The Shaker Historical Society announces the installation of
a solo art exhibit featuring Michelangelo Lovelace: Inner-City Life in the Jack
and Linda Lissauer Gallery. The SHS will be hosting an opening reception on
Friday, September 13th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Through his artwork,
Michelangelo Lovelace captures today’s concerns like poverty, crime, drugs,
war, racism, the education system and the hustle and bustle of everyday
inner-city life. The rough, gritty, primitive, vividly colored paintings
consist of animated vibrant childlike imagery that is reminiscent of primitive
work of both folk art and outsider art. Michelangelo Lovelace Sr. is a 2013
Creative Workforce Fellow. The Creative Workforce Fellowship is a program of
the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture.
