Shaker's Iconic Trees Exhibit on Display at Library

You could say that the exhibit, "Shaker’s Iconic Trees," on display in the ’s Art Gallery is ironic.

Why?

Because the photo of the tree on the postcard advertising the exhibit no longer exists. It was damaged in a thunderstorm and a new tree has been planted in its place.  Photographer Brian Taylor captured the former tree’s glory in his photo entitled, "Blossoms at City Hall."

Barring the irony, the exhibit is quite extraordinary and includes a variety of photos of trees as seen through the artistic eyes of Nature Center Photography Club members: Ellen Bartz, Bob Lanese, Frederick Woodbridge, Lauren R. Pacini, Christina Ross, Philmore Hart, William Sheck, David Perelman-Hall, and Brian Taylor.

Members of the City's Tree Advisory Board were among the 50 partygoers at the August 27gallery-opening reception, including Shaker's Tree Advisory Board Chair, Lauryn Ronis; City Councilwoman Nancy Moore; Superintendent of Forestry Pat Neville, and Matthew Warren.

Wendy Donkin, Marketing Manager for the , was on hand to show her support for the photographers, who are members of the Nature Center Photography Club and meet monthly at the Nature Center to discuss photo techniques and to take pictures. According to Donkin, new members are always welcome.

The exhibit will be on display at the Shaker Library, located at 16500 Van Aken Boulevard, though October 5 and photos, framed or matted, are available for sale.
