Nature Center to Host Bird-Watching Event

Attendees will receive instructions on how and where to see birds and how to use binoculars.

Aspiring bird watchers will get a chance to learn more about the hobby Saturday during an event at the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes.

The "Color Your Winter with Birds" event begins lasts from 10 a.m. to noon.

"If you're a family that sees birds or has been interested in birds but hasn't taken that step to become bird watchers, you'll learn the basics," Nature Center spokeswoman Wendy Donkin said. "Where to go, how to look for them, how to use binoculars."

The event will include outdoor instruction and an indoor, bird-themed craft event.

"Birds are more visible in the winter, and you'll be able to spot them in trees now that there are no leaves," Donkin said. "It's easier for beginners."
