Shaker Heights Patch is celebrating the 100 years of Shaker Heights history by creating an online scrapbook. Each day for 100 days, we'll feature a photograph that helps tell the story of Shaker Heights.
Today's photo shows the senior class portrait of comedian and political satirist Andrew Borowitz. His blog, "The Borowitz Report," anchors the new humor section of newyorker.com Borowitz launched the site after leaving a successful career as a Hollywood writer. Although he started as a writer for Norman Lear's All in the Family, he came to fame as the co-creator of the The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
He said he discovered his calling when he served as editor of the high school newspaper. Producing the paper's April Fool's issue was the highlight of tenure, he told Harvard Magazine in 2009.
“The rest of the year was tedium that you had to put up with to do the April Fools’ issue,” he said.
