Wayne Rothman and Jay Apple feel right at home at the Shaker LaunchHouse.
The men have another office for their Tenant Magic firm, but they rarely operate out of it. At Shaker LaunchHouse, at 3558 Lee Road, Rothman and Apple have no idea what technology they're going to see next or what networking opportunity might be planned. They're just fine with that.
"It's almost anything you can imagine, and you don't know who's into what," Rothman said. "It's a primordial swamp of information."
Here's more information about Tenant Magic:
What the company does: Tenant Magic designs and markets software for property owners and landlords to keep applicants' files, leases and requests in order. The firm recently developed TenantTablet, an iPad application aimed at expediting tenant applications, screenings and approvals.
How Tenant Magic learned about LaunchHouse: The company was founded by Apple and Rothman in 2010, but began working with LaunchHouse a year ago. The duo showed products and received feedback at various LaunchHouse events, making them want to learn more about what LaunchHouse co-founder Dar Caldwell calls "a slice of Silicon Valley on Lee Road."
How LaunchHouse has benefitted Tenant Magic: "We were connected to every key resource we needed, including customers, because of LaunchHouse," Rothman said. "We can trace every bit of growth that we've had in our business process to being pulled from customers or other people in LaunchHouse."
The Tenant Magic owners said a networking event put them in contact with someone who is now a minority shareholder and adviser to their company. They also received feedback that led them to market their products to municipalities.
"This place is just incredible," Apple said.
