Holiday Crafts: Make Your Own Wreaths and More from Garden Materials

The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes and the City of Shaker Heights will host the workshop, "Decorating for the Holidays from Your Garden" Sunday.

The City of Shaker Heights and the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes are hosting a free holiday craft workshop this weekend, and plan to help you put materials from your fall garden clean-up to good use.

Experts will help participants create holiday decorations such as Thanksgiving cornucopia centerpieces, table top boxwood trees or holiday wreaths from gourds, berry branches, flowering heads, pods, seeds, cones and other items from gardens.

The "Centennial Elegant & Edible: Decorating for the Holidays from Your Garden" event will start at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 at the Nature Center. The two-hour workshop is part of a series of events organized to celebrate Shaker Heights' centennial.
