It costs $420 more to get an MRI in Cuyahoga County than Lake County. That's according to data from New Choice Health, a private company that encourages people to become smarter healthcare consumers. The two counties border each other. Cuyahoga County includes the city of Cleveland and the headquarters for MetroHealth Medical Center, University Hospitals and the Cleveland Clinic. These big regional differences have been in the news lately: As the Washington Post wrote last week, "One hospital charges $8,000 - another $38,000." Shaker Heights Hardware got hit hard by the cash mob last week.
Usually you think of a mob hit as a bad thing. But for Shaker Heights Hardware, it was nothing but good. The store was the latest "hit" by the Flash Cashers, Shaker's popular cash mob, who hits local businesses each month, creating a quick stream of money for the target. "Thanks to everyone who showed up to flash Shaker Hardware," the banner on the group's website blares. "It was a huge success." The Flash Cashers struck on the evening of April 29, bringing more money into the store in a three-hour period than the entire day leading up to it, according to The Plain Dealer.
