School Board Regular Meeting Report
Wednesday, November 7th at Administration Building

The meeting commenced at 6:01pm with 4 of the school board members in attendance, Amy Fulford joined the meeting at 6:03 pm. Also in attendance were Superintendent Mark Freeman, Treasurer Bryan Christman, 4 administrators, and a few HS students.
 
Superintendent’s Report and Recommendations
The board approved all of the changes in assignment, supplemental contracts, special assignments, leaves of absence, resignations and appointments as detailed in the agenda and addendum. One of the retirements announced was that of Gene Zajac, Planetarium Director at SHHS, effective at the end of the school year with 41 years of service. The Superintendent noted that the Cleveland school operating levy passed as did 8 other school issues in the county.

Treasurer’s Monthly Financial Report
Total revenue was $0.37 million or 1.1% more than prior YTD and $16,991 below budget. Total expenditures were $1.67 million or 5.4% greater than prior YTD and $0.19 million above budget. Total salaries and wages were 3.0% above prior YTD. Repairs & maintenance were $0.44 million higher and capital outlay $0.47 million higher YTD. Net unfavorable budget variance YTD was $0.40 million. Executive Session
Executive sessions are not open to the public and are permitted by law for a limited number of purposes.  The board recessed for executive session at 6:15 pm for the stated purpose of considering the appointment of a new superintendent. President Sutherland specifically cited Ohio Revised Code section 121.22 (G)(1) as justification for the executive session. This is the 5th executive session said to be on this subject. Total time spent in the prior 4 executive sessions is reported to total 14 hours.
