In the coming days, churches in Shaker Heights will be reminding people that Christmas is about far more than gift exchanges.

Several of the churches in and around the city will hold Christmas services and masses on Monday and Tuesday. Here are a few services in Shaker:

• The Church of St. Dominic will host four masses between Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, the church will host masses at 4, 6 and 10 p.m. The Youth Choir will perform at the 4 p.m. mass, and the Adult Choir will sing at the final mass. The Christmas Day mass begins at 11 a.m. and will feature the Adult Choir.

• First Baptist Church of Greater Cleveland's plans include two events on Monday night — a Nativity Pageant with live animals at 7 p.m. and a Candlelight Service starting at 11 p.m.

• First Unitarian Church of Cleveland will host a multigenerational service at 5:30 p.m., followed by a "Service of Readings and Music for the Season" at 10:30 p.m. Both will include a candle-lighting tradition.

• Our Lady of Peace's Christmas Eve masses will be held at 4, 6 and 10 p.m. The church near Shaker Square will host a Christmas Day mass at 11 a.m.

• Heights Christian Church will host a Christmas Eve service at 7:30 p.m., preceded by a 15-minute Christmas Concert.
