POLL: Should Shaker Heights Keep Fireworks Event Going?

Vote in our poll and let us know what you think

Though all signs point toward the city accepting the police department's recommendation to cancel next year's Fourth of July fireworks celebration, such a decision won't be official until the 2013 budget is approved.

The budget does not include the fireworks, but Mayor Earl Leiken has said that the celebration could be saved if a council member were to make a motion to do so at the meeting on Monday, when the governing body is expected to vote on the budget.

Additionally, City Councilman Brian Gleisser personally pledged to look for options that could keep the event going.

Now that you've heard your neighbors' opinions and facts and figures from Shaker Heights Police Chief D. Scott Lee, what do you think? Should the city keep this event alive?
