President Barack Obama's appearance in Cleveland has been canceled, according to the office of U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge.
Obama planned to speak at an 11th Congressional District Labor Day event Monday morning, but has since decided to go to Louisiana in the wake of Tropical Storm Isaac.
"The president is making an abrupt change in his travel schedule," said Belinda Prinz, a spokeswoman for Fudge's office. "What plans he may have to come back to Northeast Ohio, we don't know yet. It's way too early to say."
White House spokesman Jay Carney announced the trip Friday aboard Air Force One as Obama flew to Texas to speak to U.S. service members and their families, The Huffington Post reported.
The president plans on examining damage caused by Isaac this week, seven years after Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans.
