Jewelry Stolen from Scottsdale Home: Shaker Heights Police Blotter

Police blotter items from the Shaker Heights Police Department

The Shaker Heights Police Department supplied the following information. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Jewelry stolen from Scottsdale: Shaker Heights Police are investigating a theft from an older resident on Scottsdale Boulevard.

The resident told police that someone took jewelry from the home between June 20 and Aug. 8. The items' worth totals about $4,100.

The stolen items include a $4,000 diamond pin and a $400 necklace. It is not clear whether the items were all taken at once or if they were stolen over the period of time provided by the resident.

"It could be one of a few people," Shaker Police Lt. Jeff DeMuth said. "We're narrowing it down from home help, nannies, domestic people.

"She has a lot of people in her house."

Wake-up call: A mother used a surprise method to turn in her son to Shaker Heights Police.

She knew her son had a warrant out for his arrest. He had violated a term of his probation  from Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court.

DeMuth said she waited for the young man to fall asleep before calling Shaker police to detain him.
