Shaker Heights Police blotter items from Aug. 8-10
The Shaker Heights Police Department supplied the following information. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Man robbed outside library: Two men stole costly electronic devices from another as he sat near the Shaker Heights Public Library's playground at 8:50 p.m. on Aug. 8.
One of the unknown men asked the victim to use his cell phone. He obliged, only to have the suspect run off with the phone.
The victim had been sitting on a bench using a laptop. He left it behind to chase after the man who took the phone. The other man then took the laptop. Police have not found the culprits.
Craigslist gone wrong: A Shaker Heights resident met a man he didn't know on Aug. 8 afternoon on Normandy Road to sell the Playstaion video game system he had previously posted an advertisement for on Craigslist.com.
While discussing the transaction, the potential buyer fled on foot with the system.
Possession at Gridley Park: Police arrested a 17-year-old Shaker Heights male and an 18-year-old man from the city on Aug. 10 for possession of drugs.
They were with two other juveniles at Gridley Park well after dusk when police approached the group. The arrested males were both carrying marijuana.

I just read the police blotter about all the breaks ins into houses and cars last month on Hildana. There you go. That was my street. I want to move back, but it's just not safe anymore.

Too bad that the library playground isn't safe anymore. I know it well. I used to play there when it was the Moreland Elemenrary School playground back in the 50's and 60's. Too bad adults aren't safe in a place that used to be safe for 5 year-olds. But that's what Shaker has become, and has been for almost 50 years.
