Burglars Spotted by Resident

Shaker Heights Police caught two suspects after a woman came home to men leaving her house.

A Shaker Heights resident arrived home to find burglars leaving her home, police say.

The woman spotted two men leaving her home on the 3500 block of Pennington Road just after 2 p.m. Jan. 7 and called police from her car.

When they arrived, Shaker Heights Police searched the neighborhood with police dogs and tracked three men, all of whom were arrested.

Two men — a 40-year-old and a 22-year-old from Shaker Heights — were charged with burglary.

The third man was not charged with burglary but was arrested on a traffic warrant.

Police say the men stole nearly $5,000 in belongings, including $3,000 in jewelry, a flatscreen TV and video game systems.
