Armed iPhone Robbery & Heated Argument Over Bike: Shaker Heights Police Blotter

Shaker Heights Police blotter items from late July

The Shaker Heights Police Department supplied the following information. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Man robbed at gunpoint for iPhone: Two men robbed another at gunpoint around 1:15 a.m. on July 24 as walked westbound on Newell Road toward Latimore Road, according to a police report.

One of the suspects made contact with the victim while the other held a black revolver handgun, Police Lt. Jeff DeMuth said. They took the victim's iPhone, but he was somehow able to call police to report the crime while it was in progress.

Police did not catch the suspects.

Bicycle beef: A Parkland Drive resident called police to report a stolen bicycle around 7:30 p.m. on July 23. The bike had been taken from a rack.

Not long after the caller noticed the theft, he confronted two juveniles in the area who were riding bikes, accusing them of the crime. A heated argument ensued, DeMuth said. A responding officer talked to the kids and determined they were not involved.
