The Power of Hand Washing: Celebrate National Hand Washing Awareness Week with the Cleveland Clinic Office of Civic Education Initiatives

Christina Shrefler of Willoughby South High School, conducted research throughout nine weeks of intensive, hands-on learning, in the Cleveland Clinic Office of Civic Education Initiatives Summer Internship Program.

Shrefler worked alongside her mentor, Terry Lubrano, RN, BSN, as she engaged in research focused on, “Hand Hygiene Compliance Among Nursing Staff in an Ambulatory Surgical Care Setting” at South Point Hospital, a Cleveland Clinic Hospital. This healthy initiative of proper hand washing can be extended to every profession, work environment, home and school.

With the incidence of microbial resistant bacterial infections on the rise and high rates of absenteeism in schools and workplaces due to illness, we feel it necessary to encourage the community to learn more about appropriate hand washing techniques.

Raise your awareness by utilizing Power Washers™.
